Wet, windy, and cold were the weather conditions for the girls at the Milaca 6-6-6 meet. The girls were able to take 12th out of 15 teams by shooting a 207 on Wednesday while fighting the elements. The Milaca 6-6-6 meet is a fun meet for the girls. It is named a 6-6-6 meet because holes 1-6 are played as best ball, holes 7-12 are played by alternating shots, and holes 13-18 are played as a scramble. The sister duo of Anna and Lindsay M. were able to shoot a 95 for the team low score. Karissa M. and Brooke R. shot an 112 and Emily G. and Taylor K. shot a 120.
Both the boys and girls varsity teams golfed in our first conference meet of the year on Tuesday at Bulrush Golf Club in Rush City. The weather, as it has been all year it seems, was wet, windy and on the cool side to say the least. The weather proved to be tough for all teams out there with a few players finding a way to keep the scores under control.
The boys took fourth place with a score of 370. Ryan G. had the low score for the team at 86. Justin G. shot 90, Blaise O. shot a 96, Luke M. and Josh D. both shot a 98, and Alex W. shot a 121. Finishing in 4th at our first meet of the year starts us is the same spot we finished last year. It is nice to see that we have not lost any ground, and have room to make improvements and hopefully move up in the conference as the year goes on. The girls took first with a score of 435. The girls are also starting the year right where last year ended. With continued work and improvement, we hope to stay right where we are. The team low score was shot by senior Anna M. with a 102. Ally T. shot at 110, Holly E. shot an 111, Kristina K. shot an 112, Lindsay M. shot an 114, and Taylor K. shot a 121. The boys and girls JV and JH had a meet in Sandstone in weather that seems to have become the norm for this season. It was wet, windy, and on the chilly side. We had the 24 golfers participating in the event which is a great sign for the future of our program. All of our golfers turned in score cards with good numbers and signs of improvement already with only a few weeks of the season under our belts. Their next meet is Thursday the 20th at Rush City.
The girls meet ended up being postponed by a day because of a late snow fall that made the course unplayable. Luckily it was only a one day postponement. Sadly, due to this delay not all of the originally committed teams could make it to the new date, but the teams that were there had good weather and lots of fun. The nice weather lead to some nice scores from many of the teams. Cambridge-Isanti took first place as a team with a combined score of 163. other schools who were at this event are, Chisago lakes 168 (T2nd), Crosby-Ironton 168 (T2nd), Foley 170 (4th), Pine City 171 (5th), Mille Lacs 182 (6th), Rush City 195 (7th), Duluth Marshall 195 (8th), Moose Lake-Willow River 197 (9th), and Braham 204 (10th).
We had some less than ideal weather for the boys' first event of the year, but we are glad that we were able to get it in before the snow started to fly.
